Why connectors alone keep an essay at Band 6
If logic is missing between sentences, therefore and moreover only label the break. Add explanation first, then choose a connector.

The coherence gap from 6 to 7 often sits in how sentences connect.
Around Band 6, essays often have basic paragraphs, but progression is unstable. Band 7 needs the reader to see each relationship on a straight read-through.

Each paragraph has a clear center, and sentence order lets the argument unfold naturally.
What to revise after checking
Take one body paragraph and rewrite each sentence as previous question to current answer. Where a sentence fails to answer the question, that is the break.
