Online feedback can easily become a long list of grammar, vocabulary, and structure comments. Feedback that moves the next draft forward should quote evidence from the essay, identify the criterion it mainly affects, and narrow the priority to one main blocker and one revision step.
A band estimate is only an unofficial reference; evidence from the essay and a clear next action determine whether the feedback is useful.
Develop ideas, improve cohesion, and reduce grammar errors leaves out the evidence and the first repair.
For example, a body paragraph claims public transport reduces congestion but skips why commuters would switch. Rewrite that paragraph with the behaviour-change mechanism, then check whether the conclusion is supported.
Sentence-level corrections can reveal local problems; which issue matters most to the whole response still needs a separate judgment. Check the task, position, and body-paragraph reasoning before deciding whether language errors obstruct meaning.
Task Response covers the task requirements, a clear position, and developed ideas; Coherence and Cohesion covers progression and paragraph relationships; Lexical Resource covers accurate, appropriate word choice; Grammatical Range and Accuracy covers sentence range and whether errors affect clarity. Do not treat all four equally—identify the main blocker first.
Keep the original draft, choose one paragraph with clear evidence, rewrite it against one target, and compare the versions side by side. Feedback enters the learning loop only when the original blocker evidence changes.
Remove names, email addresses, candidate numbers, schools, and other personal details unrelated to the feedback. A feedback tool needs only the prompt, essay text, and your target; leave your identity out.
